Pomegranates

Pomegranate From Turkey

The total of pomegranate planted lands throughout the country is more than 300 thousand hectares. The annual yield from these lands is over 500 thousand tons. The province that contributes the most to production is Antalya. Other regions producing pomegranates are: Aegean, Southeastern Anatolian and the Mediterranean.

Turkey's pomegranate exports broke a record in 2020, and continued at high levels in following years.

Countries where pomegranate is the most exported are Russia, Germany and Iraq. Ukraine, England, Portugal, Brunei, Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Nigeria, Togo and Mauritania joined the list of countries to which Turkey exports pomegranate.

Our pomegranate producers had become very conscious in recent years. They became capable of producing high quality products with zero residues. Thanks to this, our pomegranate exports have increased every year, and we have achieved an increase of 125 percent in the last 10 years.

Pomegranate strengthens the immune system. In 2020, when we faced the pandemic, there was an increase in demand for pomegranate worldwide. The pandemic also played a driving role in the export record. We expect a continuous increase in pomegranate exports, if climate changes won’t adversely affect the yields."
